Example: Your lawn area equals 6000 sq ft, and you have a bag of 28-3-6 fertilizer. Your rate of nitrogen application is 1.0 lb/1000 sq ft

1.0/0.28 x 6000/1000 = 21.4 pounds of 28-3-6 fertilizer

- .25" x 4 = 1.0 per hour is your application rate!
